RealSongCheck ("we," "us," "our") is a music library management service available at realsongcheck.com. This Privacy Policy explains what data we collect, how we use it, and your rights in relation to it.

2. What Data We Collect

When you connect your Spotify account, we collect and store:

Your Spotify user ID, display name, and profile information returned by the Spotify API
An encrypted access token and refresh token to maintain your Spotify connection
Your account settings and preferences within the Service
Records of actions taken through the Service, including tracks removed, artists blocked, and tracks marked as trusted
Reports and appeals you submit through the Service

We do not collect payment information, precise location data, or any data beyond what is necessary to operate the Service.

3. How We Use Your Data

Your data is used exclusively to operate RealSongCheck for you. Specifically:

To connect to Spotify on your behalf and perform the actions you authorise
To scan your Spotify library and present results to you
To maintain your personal block lists, trust lists, and settings
To keep a history of actions taken through the Service for your reference
To operate the reporting and appeals functions of the Service

We do not sell your data. We do not share your data with advertisers. We do not use your data for any purpose outside of operating the Service for you.

4. Spotify Integration

RealSongCheck connects to Spotify through Spotify's official Web API using OAuth 2.0. The permissions we request are limited to what the Service requires:

Reading your saved tracks and playlists
Modifying your saved tracks and playlists at your direction
Reading your current playback state for the auto-skip feature
Reading your account information to verify your subscription type

We do not access your Spotify payment details, post to your public profile, or request any permissions beyond those listed. Your Spotify credentials are never stored — only the encrypted OAuth tokens issued by Spotify.

5. Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored in a secured database hosted on Railway. Access tokens are encrypted at rest. We implement reasonable technical and organisational measures to protect your data against unauthorised access, loss, or disclosure.

No method of electronic storage or transmission is 100% secure. We cannot guarantee absolute security and accept no liability for breaches outside our reasonable control.

6. Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. If you disconnect your Spotify account and request deletion, we will delete your stored tokens, settings, and history within 30 days. Aggregate anonymised statistics may be retained indefinitely as they cannot be linked to individual users.

7. Your Rights

Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to:

Access the personal data we hold about you
Request correction of inaccurate data
Request deletion of your data
Object to or restrict processing of your data
Data portability

8. Cookies

The Service uses session cookies solely to maintain your logged-in state. We do not use tracking cookies, advertising cookies, or third-party analytics cookies.

9. Third-Party Services

We use the following third-party services to operate the Service:

Spotify AB — for music library access via the Spotify Web API
Railway — for server hosting and database storage
Cloudflare — for frontend hosting and DNS

Each of these services has its own privacy policy. We are not responsible for the data practices of third-party services.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes by updating the effective date at the top of this document. Your continued use of the Service after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
